It happened again, another innocent Black man was murdered by police. The outrage is growing as we struggle to bring value to Black lives. People are beginning to feel powerless. Don’t give up hope. We still have a long way to go but these steps will help us in our pursuit of justice.
Educate Yourself on the real History of amerika. Many of us are just waking up out the matrix, and that’s great. But now we need to learn the truth about amerikan history and about ourselves. These injustices against Black people have been happening since the first slave ship arrived on the coast of West Africa. And much of what we were taught in school about the progress of Black rights in this country is a lie. Educate yourself on the rich history & culture of Africa. Here are some book you can look into for a greater understanding of the Black struggle in amerika: Assata: An Autobiography and Post Traumatic Slave Syndrome. Build Community. In times like these, it’s easy to want fall into a depression and pull away from the world. Don’t. Isolation is one of the most powerful tactics of control. Reach out to like minded individuals. Join together. Have gatherings in your living room. Mourn and share your aspirations for the future. Join a local organization or community center in your area that is and has been working for the progress for Black people. You are not alone, we feel your pain. And only together will we make a change.
Love Yourself, FIERCELY. The single most important thing you can do right now is LOVE YOU. Fiercely and Freely embracing everything about your melanin, LOVE. Breakdown the psychological chains. Love a Black woman too, it’s magic!
Our prayers and hearts go out the families of Alton Sterling & Philando Castile. As well as all the families affected by the innocent murder of Black people. And to our ancestors that died at the hands of amerika’s greed, we honor you. Your deaths shall not be in vain. Rest in Power.
